Any Ideas for a New Shoot This Year?

Since we were unable to hold the 2021-22 Northwest Shoot Up Tour this year due to scheduling difficulties, we are working with a few shops and clubs to see if we can put together some other kind of shoot this year.  We don’t really have a format or anything figured out just yet, but we are open to suggestions.  Do any of you have ideas for a single shoot, or maybe a 2-3 leg tournament series we could put on this year?  If so please chime in with your ideas by commenting on this post!

Please check back here for further details on whatever might come next!

2021-22 Shoot Up Tour Cancelled

Wow… things change really quickly in todays world.  Yesterday things were looking good, but today the landscape has completely changed.

As I mentioned in my previous post, mom and I feel very strongly that enforcing the state mandated safety requirements for masking and social distancing is important if we were going to have the Tour.  That meant that many of the shops and clubs would not be large enough to hold an event and follow the law.  As such we decided to limit the Tour to only those shops which were large enough to accommodate ~20-25 shooters while maintaining social distancing on the shooting line.  That meant we were limited to only seven venues.  We spoke with those venues several times over the last few months, had the schedule worked out, and we thought everything was good to go.  Unfortunately in the last 24 hours four of those seven locations have chosen to withdraw.

Given this new landscape it doesn’t make sense for us to hold the Tour this year.

We are sorry for the 180 degree around from yesterday.  Hopefully things will be back to normal next year, or at least normal enough that we can hold the Tour in 2022!  Good luck to all of you in your archery endeavors this season, and we hope to see you all back in the Fall of 2022!

After a lot of discussion, revisions to the tentative schedule and observing the current pandemic numbers, it looks like we will be able to have the Tour this year!  However, there will be some important changes from last year.  Here is a quick run down of those changes:

  • We will be strictly observing social  distancing and masking requirements
  • We will only have 8 legs leading up to the Finals, and mostly only one shoot per weekend
    • This is partially due to COVID related social distancing requirements, partially due to avoiding conflicts with other shoots, and partially due to Christmas and New Years both falling on weekends
  • Archers will only need to shoot in ONE event prior to Finals Weekend in order to qualify for Finals.
    • You still need a total of 3 scores to qualify, but you only need to compete in one event prior to Finals Weekend.  (This is a temporary change to the rules for the 2021-22 tournament year only.)
  • Due to social distancing requirements space will be very limited, generally 8-12 archers per line.  There is a good chance of maxing out at all events.  Archers who have pre-registered through the website will be given preference over those who show up on the day of the event.
  • All other rules remain the same

Hello everyone,

After an unfortunate cancellation of last season due to the COVID pandemic, we are cautiously optimistic that we will be able to return to action this year.  We are finalizing and confirming the schedule and dates with the various venues and will hopefully have everything finalized by the end of the month.

There are a few things to note for this year:

  1. We will be starting at the beginning of November
  2. The Tour will have fewer legs this year than in previous seasons
  3. We will be following all health requirements or recommendations which may be in effect for the State/County/Shop/Club at the time of the shoot

Additional details and the full schedule will be posted here as soon as we have it!

Due to the coronavirus restrictions in place across Oregon and Washington, the 2020-21 Pacific Northwest Shoot-Up Tour is being postponed indefinitely.

At the present time every county in which we hold shoots are restricted to either 5 or 10 person gatherings with a minimum of 6 feet separation between people. The majority of the shops and clubs have between 14-16 lanes, with each lane being about 24 inches across (some less). That means we’d need to have at least 3 empty lanes between each archer, so we could only have 3-4 archers per line at most facilities. That translates to 6-8 archers per shoot time, and 12-16 shooters maximum per day.  If we maxed out every day, we could barely cover the cost of targets for the shops.

Given those restrictions it is just not feasible to hold the tour at this time. We will re-evaluate the situation after Thanksgiving in the hopes of being able to hold some shoots in December or January.

We hope you and your families are all are doing well and that everyone stays safe and healthy in this tumultuous year.

The Cookshack Open for Finals Weekend!

Just wanted to let you know that Cascadian has decided to have the Cookshack open for Finals Weekend, so that our shoots won’t have to leave the premises in order to get lunch, etc.  I know that I for one will be taking advantage of this, both because its convenient but also because its an easy way to help support the club!

Hello Everyone,

We are about halfway through the season now, and I wanted to give a quick update of how things are going, check in on who’s qualified for Finals already and who may still need to get some scores in, and do some housecleaning on the overall placement list.   Please click through for more details:

Well… another year, and another unnecessary controversy we need to address.  This time it revolves around swapping targets from the top bale to the bottom bale after 5 scoring ends… if you can believe that.  Please click through for important changes for the remainder of the year, and a bit of a rant.

If the shoot is full the Event registration page will say so.

Registration closes at 12:00AM on the Friday before the shoot (Thursday night).  You may still come to the shoot and register in person, but you can no longer register early and have a guaranteed spot.

Some shoots handle their own registration and do not have access to the Website.  In those cases, the Event registration page will say that registration is unavailable.
