2017-18 Shoot-up Tour Finals

A look back at the 2017-18 Shoot-up Tour

The 2017-18 Pacific Northwest Shoot-up Tour came to an end last weekend with the Finals at Cascadian Bowmen in Noti, Oregon. This years Tour saw several notable firsts, and a few changes from years past.

First and foremost I want to thank Sue Lauber who spent many weeks and months not only organizing the entire event, but also worked all season long with local shops and archers to get donations for our raffle, which turned out to be pretty successful. I want to take a moment to thank everyone who donated:

  • Archery World and XXX Archery donated a PSE Perform X bow of choice
  • M2 Outdoor Sports donated a TrueFire Sear Release
  • Bowtech Donated a Bowtech bowcase
  • Performance Archery Gear donated a $290 coupon for stabilizers
  • Spider Archery donated a 30″ front bar and a 15″ back bar ($290 value)
  • Bright Strings donated a set of custom bowstrings
  • Stew Waldrop donated $100 coupon for his custom metal artwork
  • ErreaActive Tense donated a KT Support Shirt ($150 value)
  • Mean Gene’s Custom Slings donated several bow slings and binocular straps
  • John Raines donated a Cabela’s quiver

I also want to say thank you to all the archers who bought raffle tickets to support the Tour. Through your donations and raffle ticket purchases, we were able to add almost $1,400 dollars to the Finals purse, making this year the largest total purse we’ve ever handed out at the Finals, a little over $5,800 dollars.

Some other significant stats, all of which are records:

  • 560 separate registrations
  • 200 unique archers shot in at least one Tour event
  • Nearly $4,000 dollars paid to local shops and clubs
  • Over $10,000 dollars in prize money awarded over the course of the Tour

I also want to congratulate all of the winners last weekend. Across the board, in all flights, there were very impressive shots made in very high pressure situations and you all should be proud of yourselves!

I also want to give a big shout out to all of the people who helped support the Tour by volunteering to score, run lines, hang targets, and all the other ways that you help. In particular I would like to say thank you to Becky and Dan Wiltse, Steve Tomlinson, Dave Copher, Jim Steele and Carl Vaughn for always stepping up and helping at every event they attend. Many others help as well, and I do not mean to belittle these contributions, but those folks stand out for always being the first to raise their hands, year after year, and I truly appreciate it.

I would also like to say thank you to everyone who brought exact change. It seems like a silly thing, but it is immensely helpful to us since all of the money gets paid back out again that same day.

We also added a Shoot-Up round on Saturday of Finals weekend, which I think was pretty popular. We will definitely be doing that again next year.

I had a great time this whole year, and I hope you all did too! Good luck at Vegas to those who are going, and I hope to see everyone back at it again in October or November when the Tour kicks off again!
