The Pacific Northwest Shoot-up Tour is a fantastic way to introduce new archers to tournaments, and for more experienced shooters to hone their skills. It is a series of one-day, Vegas-style tournaments with money payouts for the top three positions in each flight, and is hosted by clubs and shops all over the Northwest. The total number of shoots per year varies slightly, but there are usually around 20 legs culminating in a Final at the end of January. To qualify for the Final, archers must have competed in at least three of the qualifying legs.
This tour was invented by Northwest archers, and is fully and completely supported and run by the archers, shops and clubs in our local communities. Unlike many other tournaments and series, the Pacific Northwest Shoot-Up Tour pays back 100% of the money collected in registration fees: $7 goes to the hosting club or shop, $8 is carried over for the Finals pot, and $20 goes into the pot for that days payouts. The archers (and family members) who volunteer to run the individual tournaments and the Tour on the whole are paid only in thanks by their fellow participants. More than anything else, that makes this a very special series and something that we are very proud to be a part of.
Format and Details
Each leg of the Tour is a one-day shoot consisting of a standard 300 Vegas qualifying round, followed by head-to-head Shoot-offs. After the qualifying round, archers will be Flighted based on their qualifying scores. Each flight will have 7-14 archers in it. The number of flights and number of archers per flight will depend on the total registration for that days event.
The shoot-offs are conducted in a Shoot-Up format, where the lowest ranked archer in the Flight will compete against the next highest ranked archer. Shoot-off rounds consist of six arrows. Whoever wins the round will move up and shoot against the next highest ranked archer, and will continue in this fashion until a winner for that Flight is determined. Each Flight will have a cash pay-out for the top three finishers in that Flight, using the standard NFAA payout schedule.
This format ensures that everyone is shooting against archers of a similar skill level, regardless of class or style of equipment.
The Finals
The Finals operate very similarly to the qualifying legs, except that there is no qualifying round. Instead, the three highest qualifying scores shot throughout the Tour will be combined and used to rank the archers into their Finals Flight. A perfect Finals score would be a 900 with 90 X’s.
The top 10% of the archers who compete in the Finals will comprise the Championship Flight, which will compete in head-to-head shoot-offs using the same Shoot-Up format las the qualifying legs. All other archers be ranked into their Flights and will shoot-off using a standard seeding bracket. Championship Flight will have a cash payout for the top five positions, and the Flights will pay the top three positions.
Registration
Registration for each qualifying leg is $35 (cash only). Please bring exact change if at all possible. All monies brought in are paid back out that day, so exact change is tremendously helpful.
Registration for the Finals is paid for by the entry fees throughout the the qualifying legs.
