The Tournament

  1. All archers regardless of age, sex, or style will shoot a 3-spot or 1 spot Vegas target at 20 yards.
  2. In the shoot up phase in the championship division new targets will be put up for both shooters every time a position is decided. All divisions can put up a new target anytime they wish within reason.
  3. A clock will be used at facilities that have a working clock, during the qualifying rounds and shoot up rounds. Shoot time will be 2:00 per end. All arrows not shot within the time limit will be scored zero. The clock will be strictly enforced. Official judges can make exceptions in the event of clock failure or malfunction.
  4. Ties will be broken counting x’s.In the qualifying shoot phase, if ties are present after counting X’s the shooter that shot the lowest score not counting X’s in the earliest end will lose. If points were dropped on the same end X‘s will be in effect again. In the shoot up phase, if ties are present after counting X’s at the conclusion of the second end, an additional end will be shot. If a tie still exists after one additional end the position will be decided by one arrow closest to the center.
  5. ‘Outside-In’ scoring will be used. Arrows that touch the line or plane of the circle will count the higher score.
  6. No arrow will be called more than 3 times. A primary tournament judge and secondary tournament judge shall be assigned before the shoot begins.During the qualifying round there will be one caller and one scorer each for the top and bottom line.If there are 15 shooters or less, one scorer and one caller will score everyone. If shoot coordinators wish one caller and one scorer may score for an unlimited number of people.Preferably the scorer and caller are not shooting the given line they are scoring but if they are shooting any discrepancy regarding the caller, scorer, or official judges arrow their opinion will be replaced by the secondary official judge. If the caller and scorer disagree about the score of an arrow the primary official judge will be called for the 3rd and tie breaking call and his judgment is final and cannot be overturned. In the shoot up phase there will be one person that will do both scoring and calling for each flight. In the case of a discrepancy the person calling and scoring the flight that is closest to the championship flight or the scorer from championship flight if the arrow in question was shot by the 1st flight will provide the second opinion, with the primary official judge being the 3rd and final word if those 2 disagree.
  7. Any arrow with the whole arrow shot ahead of a 10 foot line will be a shot arrow.
  8. If you have equipment failure during the qualifying score phase, you will be allowed the balance of your current end for a time out and one additional end. There will be one end for 5 sight in arrows. Make-up arrows will be shot immediately after the 10th end.If you have equipment failure during the shoot up phase, there will be no time allowance for equipment failure. You may have a back up bow ready and you will have 1:30 to shoot the remainder of your arrows.
  9. No arrow larger than a 27/64 diameter will be allowed.
  10. During scoring, archers will remain back at least 5 feet from the target until scoring is complete. Under no circumstances is an archer to touch his arrows or target before the score is counted.
  11. If an archer shoots more than 3 arrows in a given end, the lowest 3 arrows will be counted. On a three-spot target if an archer shoots multiple arrows into a single spot, the lowest scoring arrow in that spot will be counted. The higher scoring arrow(s) in that spot will not be counted.
  12. If an archer shoots a zero, the missed arrow will score a 10 with a star or asterisk for the purpose of flighting. Whatever flight the archer ends up in, he will be placed at the bottom.
  13. Targets must be switched top to bottom, bottom to top after 5 ends.
  14. Every shooter competing in the Final shoot must have a minimum of 3 scores prior to starting the final shoot up.Two (2) of the three (3) Qualifying Scores must be shot prior to Finals weekend.Placement at the final shoot up will be determined by your best 3 Qualifying Scores. There will be extra qualifying rounds shot prior to the final shoot up. Shooters with fewer than 3 scores will have priority for these spots. Places will be filled on a first come first serve basis via pre-registration. This is the only time it will be possible to shoot multiple qualifying scores in one day.

Format

A Vegas 300 round will be shot for qualifying position in the morning. Scores will be posted from top to bottom.

The top 6 shooters will be placed into the Championship flight based on qualifying score, remaining shooters will be divided into equal flights with a max of 14 shooters per flight.
In order to have 3 non championship flights you must have a minimum of 29 shooters in non championship flights. If there is an odd number of people causing one flight to have any extra people the extra person will go in the higher flight or flights. If there is less than 15 participants there will be no championship flight, there will be one flight of 14 or less.

The Shoot-Up round after qualifying order are posted will determine the winners.
The Shoot-Up is a one-on-one elimination consisting of 2 ends on a Vegas target, see rule #2. The shooter with the lowest qualifying score, in each flight, will shoot against the person with the next highest score, etc.. The Shoot-Up continues until all places are established.

All flights will pay the top 3 positions. The Prizes: Cash prizes will be awarded to 1st (50% of available purse), 2nd (30% of available purse), and 3rd (20% of available purse), in each flight.

Available purse money will be broken down as follows between the flights. Start by dividing the money equally between all the flights including Championship, then adjust the money accordingly so each flight gets paid $20 more than the flight below it. (Example if you 50 shooters and $1000 dollars total, payouts will be Champ $240, 1st flight $220, 2nd flight $200, 3rd flight $180, 4th flight $160. Then the 50%/30%/20% breakdown happens within each flights purse to reach each places purse amount).

Exceptions for Final Shoot: Championship flight will be determined by the top 10% rounded to the nearest whole number. The top 5 shooters in Championship Flight will be paid. Money will be broken down per NFAA standards for the 5 shooters in paid positions. Example 5 shooters in the flight look to NFAA pay out percentages that would pay 5 places.

Final positions will be determined by a standard shoot up format. Non Championship flights will not shoot up per standard rules. They will determine final position by a single elimination 16 position bracketed shoot off format, first vs. last and so on until the top 3 positions are determined. Any available bye will go to the highest ranking archer, example if there is 13 archers in the flight 4th place will shoot against 13th and 1st, 2nd and 3rd will have a bye in the first round. This format will increase everyone’s chances to win while still giving an advantage to those at the top of the flight.

Registration money break down: $35.00 entry, $7.00 to host, $7.00 to general carry over, $1.00 to incentive carry over, $20.00 paid back at qualification shoot.
